Gregg M. Amore

Secretary of State of Rhode Island

Gregg M. Amore is Rhode Island’s thirtieth Secretary of State. Prior to being elected as Secretary of State, he taught Advanced Placement United States history and United States civics and government courses at East Providence High School for twenty-seven years before serving as Athletic Administrator for the East Providence School District. Secretary Amore first entered elected office in 2012, representing residents of East Providence in the Rhode Island House of Representative for ten years.

The Albert Shanker Institute, endowed by the American Federation of Teachers and named in honor of its late president, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to three themes - excellence in public education, unions as advocates for quality, and freedom of association in the public life of democracies.
