Kamala Harris, 49th Vice President of the United States joined AFT and ASI President Randi Weingarten for a special AFT Book Club conversation about Vice President Harris' memoir, 107 Days.  In 107 Days, Harris reflects on an extraordinary moment in American democracy: the period after President Biden stepped aside, her emergence as the Democratic nominee for president, and the intense days leading up to the 2024 election. The book captures the urgency, responsibility, and resolve required to lead during a defining moment, and the people and values that shaped those decisions.

Together, Harris and Weingarten discussed leadership under pressure, the role of educators, healthcare workers, public employees, and higher education professionals in sustaining democracy, and Harris’s first stop as the nominee at the AFT National Convention in July 2024. The conversation explored what those 107 days reveal about public service, collective action, and the work required to strengthen our communities and our country for the fight ahead.
