Lillian Durán

Professor, Department of Special Education and Clinical Sciences

Lillian Durán has a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota and is a Professor in the Department of Special Education and Clinical Sciences at the University of Oregon. She develops language and literacy screening measures in English and Spanish. She consults nationally regarding best practices in assessment with multilingual learners. Prior to Dr. Durán’s work in higher education she was an early childhood special education teacher.

The Albert Shanker Institute, endowed by the American Federation of Teachers and named in honor of its late president, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to three themes - excellence in public education, unions as advocates for quality, and freedom of association in the public life of democracies.
