Reverend Dr. Cassandra Gould

National Political Director, Faith in Action National Network

The Reverend Dr. Cassandra Gould, a native of Demopolis, Alabama where her mother was a voting rights activist. She is a nationally recognized faith leader, community organizer, public theologian and political strategist. Affectionately known as the “Pastor in the Public Square,” she serves as National Political Director for the Faith in Action National Network and is based in Washington, DC. A frequent columnist, podcast guest, and adjunct professor, her voting rights advocacy is featured in Rigged: The Voter Suppression Playbook and on Ben Chavis’ Chronicles. She is also the founder of In the Public Square and the host of a new podcast, Unmuted: Faith in the Public Square.

Recently named by Sojourners as one of ten women faith leaders shaping the Church in 2026, Dr. Gould embodies a ministry rooted in faith, justice, and public witness.
