Common Career Technical Core and the Common Core

The common Career Technical Core (CCTE) is a set of high quality benchmarks standards for CTE. It is a state-led initiative. CCTE contains ‘end-of-study’ standards for all 16 Career Clusters and their 79 Career Pathways. This effort was prompted by the recognized need among CTE leaders that existing CTE standards were highly diverse, and that the global marketplace increasingly called for rigorous, portable skillsets. In this context, CTE leaders also are working to align new and existing CTE programs with college- and career readiness standards. There is also a strong effort and there is a program to align the common career core standards with the common core standards that have been adopted by most of the states.

Good review of CTE issues.
