Rob Weil

Director of Field Programs, Educational Issues, American Federation of Teachers

Rob Weil is director of field programs in the Educational Issues Department of the American Federation of Teachers. Weil taught high school math in Colorado for 20 years and served as president of the Douglas County Federation of Teachers for six of those years. He joined the AFT’s national office in 2001. His current responsibilities include managing all of AFT’s in-the-field efforts regarding school and instructional improvement at the state, district, school and classroom levels. Following the passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act, Weil helps states and local school districts with the law’s implementation. He is a member of the Trade Union Advisory Committee at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which provides guidance and recommendations on education and other worker-related issues.
